The Animal Welfare Centre is the hub of the Varjupaikade MTÜ shelter network, providing a temporary home for animals that have been mistreated or kept in poor conditions. Such animals often find it hard to cope in an ordinary shelter environment, as they need special care and conditions. We founded the welfare centre to offer a fresh chance to pets that have had a hard life. At the centre we create an environment for the animals that is as species-appropriate and stress-free as possible. It is more than just a shelter. At present, the Animal Welfare Centre has three cat rooms, two quarantine rooms and an enclosure for feral cats; in the near future a cat house, a dog house and a sensory garden will be built there. See the animals currently in our care
At the Animal Welfare Centre we care for dozens of cats every day. We provide them with comfortable, safe living conditions that support their recovery and wellbeing. The things we use most for this are cat food (we use Royal Canin biscuits), litter (we use Dr. Stern quartz litter) and various cat treats that help maintain the cats' oral hygiene (usually marked with the label dental).
