Donation terms

General terms

Animals cannot be helped through one-off campaigns; they need food and shelter every day. Your regular donation may help save the life of an animal in a critical condition, secure shelter and food for many shelter animals, or find a new home for the rescued dogs and cats eagerly waiting for one. By supporting us each month with a small donation, together these add up to a great deal. We are a non-profit organisation that receives a fee from local governments for keeping each animal at the shelter for its first 14 days. Every day, around 100 dogs and 700 cats are waiting for a home in our shelters, along with a few small animals. For most of them, the first two weeks are long behind them. It is only thanks to donations that we can provide veterinary treatment, spaying and neutering, and microchipping, keep animals in the shelter for more than 14 days, and improve the shelters' housing conditions. A large part of our budget comes from caring people like you. Without your help, we could not change the lives of so many animals.
We have signed up to the good practice for collecting donations.

A donation can be made either as a one-off or set up as a monthly recurring donation, which helps us plan our activities and prepare our budget in a stable, long-term way.

Both one-off and recurring donations can also be arranged through your internet bank or at a bank branch, but the direct link here makes it faster and more convenient.

When making a one-off donation, you are directed, via our contractual partner Maksekeskus.ee, to your internet bank with your chosen donation details already pre-filled, which saves you time and reduces the chance of mistakes when entering the data.

To make a recurring donation in your internet bank, click on your internet bank's logo (Swedbank, SEB, LHV). After logging in, you can check and, if necessary, add to or amend the pre-filled fields. For other banks, you will need to fill in the fields yourself. To do so, you can use the information provided above the bank logos.

Donations are made in euros.

Varjupaikade MÜ is entered in the list of associations eligible for income tax relief. This means that a private individual can reclaim income tax on their donation. We forward the donor's personal identification code and the donation amount to the Tax and Customs Board, and it is reflected in the pre-filled income tax return. For a company, a donation qualifies for income tax relief up to 10% of the previous financial year's profit or 3% of the payroll subject to social tax in the current calendar year – according to the company's own choice. We also forward information on the donations of legal persons to the Tax and Customs Board at the beginning of the following financial year.

A recurring donation can be cancelled at any time. As a rule, donations cannot be reclaimed, but in justified cases (for example, human error) you may write to info@varjupaik.ee.

Privacy and security

I. Security

  1. For their part, Maksekeskus and the banks have undertaken to do everything they can to ensure that donating through the internet bank is secure for donors and their money.

  2. Making a donation via a bank link works in the same way as making an ordinary payment. To log in to the internet bank, you need a user name and a permanent password. You can log in to the internet bank using an ID card, Mobile-ID, Smart-ID, a PIN calculator or a password card. The most secure way to log in to the internet bank is by using an ID card or Mobile-ID.

  3. The internet bank page always opens in a separate window. The connection must be encrypted: the address begins with https:// and the padlock icon on the page must be closed.

  4. If you have any doubts about the security of the internet bank, contact your home bank immediately.

II. Privacy

  1. All donations made through our website go via the internet bank, so the data collected is treated as customer data. Customer data is any information the bank knows about its customer, for example the customer's name, personal identification code, contact details and bank transaction data.
  2. The controller of personal data is Varjupaikade MÜ, which forwards the personal data required to carry out payments to the authorised processor Maksekeskus AS.
  3. Donors' data is protected by security and confidentiality rules and is not disclosed to third parties, except for the purpose of providing the payment service.
  4. To donors who have entered their email address, we occasionally send notices about important events related to the organisation. You can let us know at any time if you do not wish to receive these emails.
  5. The user has the right to request that the processing of their personal data be stopped and/or that the collected data be deleted, where such a right arises from the Personal Data Protection Act or another legal act.
  6. To provide a better user experience, our website uses cookies. The session cookie allows the user to log in to the environment and remembers the various choices they have made. In addition, Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous website visit statistics.
